8 Common Pains In Pregnant Women

Various types of pain or
discomfort may appear in a woman during pregnancy. Some of them will be passing
while others are more long-lasting. Pain may emerge in the first trimester or
closer to the time of the delivery. However, keep in mind that every woman’s
pregnancy is unique. If you worry about any of these pains, discuss it with
your health care provider.

1. Lower Back
Pain

Lower back pain appears as your
body adjusts to the pregnancy. As the uterus expands, it changes your gravity
center and weakens abdominal muscles. These changes affect your posture and put
an additional load on the lower back. The extra weight also causes stress on
your muscles and joints.

Hormonal changes may also
contribute to back pain. Hormonal changes loosen the joints and ligaments that
attach pelvic bones to the spine. This may cause pain while you are sitting,
walking or standing for a long time.

2. Leg Cramps
And Swelling

There is no clear reason why
pregnant women get more leg cramps. Probably it happens due to excess load from
carrying extra weight. However, leg cramps may be associated with swelling from
fluid buildup in the legs.

Leg swelling during pregnancy
emerges because the pressure of the expanding uterus slows the blood flow from
the legs to the heart. You may ask your foot doctor about options
that can help you relieve it.

trimester of pregnancy due to hormonal and physical changes. Heartburn is a
common and typically harmless issue. It is often accompanied by gas and
bloating.

4. Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are an excessive
swelling of blood vessels in the rectal area. During pregnancy, your uterus
becomes bigger. This puts a lot of pressure on the veins in the rectal area so
blood vessels swell. Hemorrhoids can just itch but rarely cause unpleasant
painful sensations. Sometimes hemorrhoids may cause rectal bleeding.

5. Round Ligament
Pain

Round ligament pain may appear in
one or both sides of the abdomen. It is a common pain which women often
experience during the first trimester. This type of pain lasts only a few
seconds and it forces you to change position. Pregnant women report it as a
sharp, jabbing pain
in the abdomen
.

6. Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a
tingling and numbness feeling in the hands of pregnant women. It may also cause
a dull ache in fingers or wrist. Unpleasant sensations are often worse at
night. In severe cases the hand to feel weak and clumsy.

Carpal tunnel syndrome in
pregnant women is associated with fluid retention. It causes swelling and puts
pressure on the carpal tunnel. Increased pressure in this area compresses the
median nerve and causes painful sensations.

7. Braxton
Hicks Contractions

Braxton Hicks contractions are
the main cause of all false labors. It starts as a painless tightening at the
top of the uterine and spreads down. Braxton Hicks’s contractions make your
abdomen become oddly contorted and very hard.

from the true labor contractions. False contractions are irregular and
occasional. They last about 20 seconds and decrease when you change position.
True labor contractions are regular and become stronger and longer over time.

Headache tension is a common
problem in pregnant women. It is a dull or squeezing pain on both sides of the
head. It is probably caused by the hormonal change that takes place during
pregnancy. After the first trimester hormones often stabilize and headache
disappears on its own.

during pregnancy is your increased blood volume and circulatory. It puts an
excessive load on vessels and causes tension
headaches
